Constitutional Court Office Cancels All Overseas Study Trips to Support Government Budget Reduction Policy

The Constitutional Court Office has canceled all overseas study trips in line with the government’s policy to reduce budget burdens, after plans for study visits to Egypt and Georgia in April and May.

On 26 March 2026, the Constitutional Court Office issued a statement detailing its overseas study trips, noting that after receiving budget allocations to implement planned projects, it organized training courses for internal personnel to enhance learning and develop capabilities in management and organizational advancement. This aims to effectively support the duties of Constitutional Court judges in protecting citizens' rights and freedoms. Additionally, training courses for external personnel were designed to build knowledge and understanding of the rule of law, democracy, human rights and freedoms, and principles to foster leadership paradigms in a democratic society.

To achieve the objectives of these courses, participants were scheduled to undertake study visits domestically and abroad. However, following a Cabinet resolution on 10 March 2026, all government agencies were instructed to suspend overseas study trips for all courses from that date onward to reduce the government's budget burden amid rising energy and fuel costs. The saved budget can then be redirected to projects aimed at alleviating public hardship. Furthermore, on 20 March 2026, the Ministry of Finance issued an urgent notice approving government agencies to claim expenses incurred from postponing or canceling overseas study trips.

Having considered the Cabinet’s resolution, the Constitutional Court Office has canceled the planned study trips to the Arab Republic of Egypt scheduled from 24 April to 2 May 2026, and to Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan from 14 to 24 May 2026.
