Special Military Ranks Granted to Four Soldiers Who Died or Were Injured in Duty

A royal decree granted a special military rank promotion to Colonel Thepthong, elevating him to Major General after he died in the line of duty, and also conferred special military ranks to three soldiers who were injured and disabled while performing emergency duties.


On 26 March 2026 GMT+7, the Royal Gazette website published two Prime Minister's Office announcements, the first stating the following:Prime Minister's Office Announcement on Special Military Rank PromotionsBy Royal Command, It is graciously decreed to confer the rank of Major General as a special case upon Colonel Thepthong Indrathat, a military officer under the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, who died in the line of duty during normal service.

Announcement No. 2Prime Minister's Office Announcement on Special Military Rank PromotionsThe content reads: By Royal Command, Special military ranks are graciously conferred upon military personnel of the Royal Thai Army who were injured and rendered disabled while performing their duties during emergency situations. The total number is three individuals, as follows:

1. Sergeant Major Manayee Samoh is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.
Effective from 18 March 2024 GMT+7.

2. Sergeant Major Charoen Petchpimon is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.
Effective from 30 January 2025 GMT+7.

3. Second Lieutenant Adisai Suksiriwat is promoted to Second Lieutenant.
Effective from 22 December 2024 GMT+7.
