Royal Appointment of Jirutom Wisalchit as Election Commissioner

The Royal Gazette published the royal command appointing Jirutom Wisalchit as a member of the Election Commission, replacing Lertwiroj Kowatthana whose term has concluded.

On 27 March 2026, reporters reported that on 26 March, the Royal Gazette website published the royal command announcing the appointment of an Election Commission member. It stated that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun graciously commanded that since Lertwiroj Kowatthana was appointed as an Election Commission member by royal command dated 4 December 2018, and subsequently, Lertwiroj Kowatthana has vacated the position due to the completion of his term, leaving the position vacant.

Now, the Senate has approved Jirutom Wisalchit, who possesses the qualifications and is without any disqualifications, to be appointed as an Election Commission member under Section 222 (1) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. Exercising the authority under Section 222 of the Constitution, together with Sections 8 and 12 of the Organic Act on the Election Commission B.E. 2560 (2017), His Majesty has graciously appointed Jirutom Wisalchit as an Election Commission member.

This appointment is effective from now onward.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Election Commission has scheduled a ceremony to receive the royal command appointing Jirutom Wisalchit as an Election Commission member on Thursday, 2 April 2026, at 10:59 a.m. in Meeting Room 201, 2nd floor, Office of the Election Commission.
