Anutin to Submit New Cabinet List Next Week, Expects Faster Formation Than Waiting for Election Commission Budget Approval

Anutin confirms he is preparing to submit the list of the new "Anutin 2" cabinet after all qualifications have been cleared, expecting a new government next week. He sees this as faster than waiting for the Election Commission's budget approval for caretaker government matters.

At 10:30 a.m. on 28 March 2026 GMT+7 Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said during the “Meet the Press” forum under the theme "One Month of Global Crisis: Thailand's Response in a Changed World" about the new cabinet list to be submitted on 30 March 2026.

"Today, I must inform the people that this will likely be the final week of my current government, Government Nu 1, Anutin 1. I have received the list of ministerial candidates from all coalition parties, and their qualifications have been checked for any constitutional disqualifications. Some issues arose initially, but now none remain. On Monday (30 March), there will be a final meeting with agencies to confirm that all ministerial qualifications are complete. I will then expedite the submission to His Majesty the King for royal consideration and approval in due time."

He added that if the legal procedures proceed smoothly, a new government should form within next week. The current government cannot implement measures that bind the next government, even if the prime minister remains the same. There are laws and regulations to follow; however, he confirmed that once the new government takes the oath, it will promptly present its policy statement so that it can fully administer government affairs. There will be no trial or probationary period, as many current ministers will continue serving the public in the next government, ensuring swift progress.

Overall, the government's management will focus on ensuring energy security, reducing impacts on vulnerable groups, and supporting the entire economy through various measures until the situation improves. Currently, the government cannot fully exercise authority due to several restrictions, such as needing Election Commission approval for any central budget spending.

"I believe forming a new government will be quicker than waiting for the Election Commission's consideration and response. We expect to complete everything by next week and will expedite the policy statement, which is already prepared for the next government."

Anutin further stated he will respectfully ask the parliamentary speaker to convene a meeting as soon as possible once the policy statement is finalized, so the government will be free of legal constraints in managing policies and budgets to handle situations and govern effectively.
