Government Announces Launch of Diesel B20 Sales to Reduce Fuel Costs for the Public

Ratchada revealed that the government is moving forward to expand energy options by beginning sales of Diesel B20 to reduce fuel costs in the transport and industrial sectors while simultaneously generating income for Thai palm oil farmers.

On 30 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Assistant Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, stated that Diesel B20 is diesel blended with 20% Thai palm oil biodiesel. Compatible vehicles can use it just like regular diesel. Its main advantage is lowering fuel costs and increasing the use of domestically produced energy.

The Fuel Fund Management Committee (FFMC) has implemented measures to keep Diesel B20 priced approximately 5 baht per liter lower than regular diesel (B7) to encourage usage and help operators reduce their energy expenses concretely.

This measure will assist the transport, logistics, and industrial sectors, which have high energy costs, to better manage expenses. This will ease pressure on product price increases and overall benefit the public.

Meanwhile, major fuel retailers have been steadily expanding B20 sales points to offer convenience and choices to compatible vehicle users. Bangchak fuel stations have started selling at Phra Khanong depot, OR stations at Songkhla and Saraburi depots, and Shell stations are expected to begin sales in early April.

Additionally, promoting B20 use boosts demand for palm oil, a key national raw material, positively affecting product price stability and providing stable income for Thai farmers. It also reduces long-term reliance on imported energy.

"The government prioritizes managing energy costs for both the public and businesses. Promoting Diesel B20 is another measure that supports the economy, agriculture, and the country's long-term energy security," Ms. Ratchada said.
