MP Kung Fu Advances First Parliamentary Achievement, Urges Government to Cut Oil Exports to Neighbors

The leader of the Thai Ruam Palang Party revealed that after debating to address public hardships and proposing the government reconsider and reduce oil export volumes, the government has accepted the proposal for consideration.

On 30 March 2026, reporters reported that in the recent House of Representatives meeting, Mr. Wasawat Puangphonsri, party-list MP from the Thai Ruam Palang Party, known as “MP Kung Fu,” rose to debate the domestic energy situation, focusing especially on oil exports to neighboring countries like Laos and Myanmar, amid public concerns over domestic oil quantities and rising price volatility.

Mr. Wasawat proposed that the government "review and reduce oil export volumes" from the previous approximately 5 million liters per day to a lower amount, prioritizing domestic energy security first.

Subsequently, the government, through the Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council, announced that the Prime Minister has directed a policy shift toward importing refined oil for export instead of domestic refining. The PTT Group adjusted export volumes from 5,000,000 liters down to 2,000,000 liters per day to ease pressure on domestic production and oil stockpiles.

After the debate, the government showed a stance of "accepting the proposal for consideration" and plans to adjust oil management measures, particularly controlling export volumes to align with the domestic situation, reassuring the public that shortages will be addressed concretely.

This debate marks the first major achievement of “MP Kung Fu,” who successfully pushed public hardship issues into government consideration and policy response, reflecting the role of a border-area representative.
