"Monnaporn" develops the DNA of Nakhon Phanom! Promotes a "year-round tourism" model with 20 million baht invested to identify key attractions in 12 districts, boosting the Mekong economy.
On 30 March 2026, Ms. Monnaporn Charoensri, Member of Parliament for Nakhon Phanom from the Pheu Thai Party, disclosed progress on the city identity project known as "DNA Nakhon Phanom." This initiative stems from the Cabinet's mobile meeting on 30 April 2025. The Pheu Thai government aims to elevate Nakhon Phanom as the first pilot province in the Northeast with a clear, year-round tourism calendar.
Ms. Monnaporn explained that the project originated from a collaborative brainstorming among government agencies, private sector, the Chamber of Commerce, and the public to find solutions for local tourism, which previously lacked continuous appeal. The Cabinet approved a budget exceeding 20 million baht, assigning the Community Development Department to work with Nakhon Phanom province to select "best offerings" from all 12 districts to motivate tourists to visit throughout all seasons, not only during major festivals.
The new marketing approach under DNA Nakhon Phanom highlights five key attractions to captivate tourists: enjoying the scenic beauty along the Mekong River; tasting unique local cuisine; purchasing modern-designed OTOP products; engaging in spiritual activities to enhance good fortune with sacred local deities; and relaxing in a slow-life atmosphere by the Mekong.
"We aim to establish a clear tourism calendar to sustainably benefit the economy, trade, and investment within the community. Nakhon Phanom is fully prepared to accommodate tourists year-round," Ms. Monnaporn stated confidently.
