Srisuwan has filed a complaint with the Ombudsman requesting the Constitutional Court to determine whether Suriyasai and Prasert meet the qualifications to serve as ministers, amid allegations they may have seriously violated or failed to comply with ethical standards.
On 30 Mar 2026 at 10:00 a.m., at the Ombudsman Office, Government Complex, Building C, Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Rak Chat Rak Paendin organization, submitted a petition to the Ombudsman. He requested the matter be referred to the Constitutional Court to assess whether Mr. Suriyasai Junrungreangkit and Mr. Prasert Chantrawongthong have the qualifications or disqualifications to hold ministerial office under the 2017 Constitution, Section 160 (4) and (5). Both individuals have been publicly criticized for issues concerning integrity and may have seriously violated ethical standards. Specifically, Suriyasai was previously complained about for purchasing a luxury Gulfstream G550 jet from Mr. Ben Smith, who is wanted by the Central Investigation Bureau along with his wife for defrauding international investors in multiple projects. Suriyasai admitted to buying the plane from Ben Smith. Moreover, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has filed a petition with the prosecutor to seize assets of the network involved in public fraud and scams, which raises serious ethical concerns about purchasing assets from such persons. Meanwhile, Prasert is under investigation by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) regarding financial transactions and conduct linked to a "crypto iris scan" business group suspected of global economic crimes and money laundering. This stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Ministry of Digital Economy during Prasert's tenure as minister and a private Singaporean company on 27 Mar 2024. The DSI revealed that the agreement was rushed, bypassed legal departments, ignored Attorney General warnings, and exposed the personal data of 1.2 million Thai citizens, raising fears of international money laundering involvement.
Mr. Srisuwan added that the Rak Chat Rak Paendin organization had previously petitioned the Prime Minister and Cabinet Secretary to investigate the ministers’ qualifications on 26 Mar. This included Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakijkosol, whose qualifications were ultimately rejected as per the complaint. However, Suriyasai and Prasert were allowed to continue despite similar concerns. Consequently, the organization brought the matter to the Ombudsman to refer to the Constitutional Court for a ruling on whether both individuals meet the qualifications or have disqualifications under Section 160 (4) and (5) of the 2017 Constitution. The organization plans to petition the King if the review process is delayed.
