The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has resolved to forward the case against Police General Surachate and associates concerning benefit-taking from online gambling websites to the police for criminal prosecution.
On 30 Mar 2026 GMT+7 at the NACC office, Mr. Surapong Intrathaworn, Secretary-General of the NACC and spokesperson for the office, announced that police investigators had submitted three criminal investigation files to the NACC: (1) A case under the order of the Royal Thai Police No. 593/2023 dated 25 October 2023, file no. 724/2023, alleging Police Colonel Pakpoom Pisamai and associates, later consolidated for consideration with accusations against Police General Surachate Hakparn and associates; (2) A case under the order of the Metropolitan Police Bureau No. 58/2024 dated 1 February 2024, file no. 391/2023, alleging Police General Surachate Hakparn and associates; and (3) A complaint submitted by the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division against Police General Surachate Hakparn.
The NACC announces that in its 32/2026 meeting today (30 Mar), the commission resolved to forward all three allegations to the police investigators to proceed under the Criminal Procedure Code. This decision reflects that the investigators have already conducted inquiries and that the cases are intertwined, involving multiple offenses both within and outside the NACC’s jurisdiction. The investigation needs to expand to include related individuals. Given the significant developments and intertwined nature of the cases, it is appropriate for police investigators to further probe and identify all involved parties. Delegating the case to the police will enhance effective justice administration, in accordance with Sections 61 (second paragraph) and 63 of the Anti-Corruption Act B.E. 2561 (2018), together with the NACC’s regulations on inspection and inquiry B.E. 2561 (2018).
Furthermore, if police investigators uncover additional offenses involving state officials related to corruption, misconduct in office, or crimes within the NACC’s jurisdiction, they are to proceed under the Criminal Procedure Code and report back to the NACC for further consideration as required by law.
