The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude for the royal appointment of the "Anutin 2 Cabinet," affirming the team's full commitment to working for the people. Initially, the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 6 April, followed by an immediate Cabinet meeting. The government policy statement for submission to Parliament is already prepared.
At 11:20 a.m. on 31 March 2026, at Muang Thong Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul spoke after receiving the royal command appointing the new Cabinet. He said it was a great royal grace, and that everyone would continue to work to the best of their abilities to serve the people.
When asked if the government policy statement for Parliament was completed, Anutin said the key content was nearly finished. There was about one week left to add or refine it for greater completeness. Asked whether the policy statement included proposals from both the Pheu Thai Party and the Bhumjaithai Party, he said they had incorporated suggestions from all sectors.
Asked if coalition parties would be invited to discuss before the policy statement, Anutin said they had already consulted during the drafting process. The statement would be sent to coalition parties, and if no major changes were needed, it would be submitted to Parliament for members to read and study in preparation for debate. He believed the debate would generate constructive recommendations beyond criticism, which the government would consider, emphasizing that this administration listens to the people.
When asked whether a team would be formed to listen to parliamentary debates, Anutin said such a team already existed as a normal practice. Asked if anything special would be added beyond the four main policy areas, he said they would present the statement and listen to parliamentarians' debates, as the statement is addressed to the entire Parliament, not just the House of Representatives. Therefore, they expected to receive valuable suggestions and ideas from the people's representatives.
When pressed about any new priorities given the changed circumstances since the election campaign, Anutin highlighted energy, environment, anti-corruption, and drug suppression as key issues. He stressed the importance of these efforts as Thailand prepares to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to demonstrate to the world that the country is trustworthy, governed with integrity and clean administration. He said entering the OECD with corruption would only embarrass the country.
Asked if the date for the oath-taking ceremony was confirmed, the Prime Minister said he had been unofficially informed by the Cabinet Secretary that it would likely be on 6 April. However, the final date depends on the Royal Household's announcement, which they cannot set themselves. They are awaiting official notification but have been asked to prepare from now on. All Cabinet members have been informed to be ready at any time for the oath-taking, though the exact date and time will be coordinated later.
When asked if the Cabinet meeting would be called immediately after the oath-taking, the Prime Minister said yes, immediately, followed by the policy statement presentation.
