Big Adul Announces No Gift Acceptance After Appointment as Defence Minister, Plans to Tackle Security Issues

Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen is preparing to take office as Defence Minister, announcing he will not accept gifts and asking only for public encouragement. He is set to tackle comprehensive security problems, including the Middle East crisis and the Thai-Cambodian border.

On 31 Mar 2026 GMT+7, following the royal decree appointing the new minister, “Big Adul,” Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Defence Minister, posted on his personal Facebook page to thank nationwide public support but requested to "refrain from accepting any gifts."

He clearly stated, "I sincerely thank everyone for their congratulations. I respectfully decline all gifts and ask only for your encouragement, which is enough."

Close sources revealed that Big Adul’s decision underscores his genuine commitment to serving the nation amid current national challenges, including escalating tensions from Middle East conflicts impacting the global economy and security, as well as ongoing vigilance over the Thai-Cambodian border issues.

Further reports noted that the Ministry of Defence will convene meetings to evaluate security situations and prepare multidimensional response plans involving military, intelligence, and international cooperation to prevent any spillover effects into Thailand.

Meanwhile, Big Adul emphasized that the cabinet’s urgent mission is to resolve citizens’ livelihood problems alongside safeguarding national security. The government and Ministry of Defence will move forward with full effort to ensure the people "live well, eat well, and remain safe" sustainably.
