“Teng Natthapong” affirmed that proposing law amendments is the genuine authority of MPs. Despite being frozen, the party continues moving forward, preparing to debate the government’s policy statement and the PM 2.5 dust problem in Northern Thailand. He called on everyone to help demand a system of rule of law and justice.
On 31 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, posted on Facebook that according to reports, the NACC meeting approved filing a petition to the Supreme Court concerning the case involving 44 former MPs from the former Move Forward Party, related to their joint proposal to amend Criminal Code Section 112 today.
I want to reiterate that proposing legal amendments is the genuine authority of representatives and an essential tool of legislative work. Whether you agree with the bill or not, our duty to propose amendments should not be subject to prosecution for serious ethical violations.
What happened today indicates that the elite groups holding power in this country are ready to use all state mechanisms to maintain their power base and interests through legal warfare processes.
No matter how much they try to freeze and hold back Thailand’s progress, my colleagues and I will keep moving forward, performing our duties to the fullest extent regardless of whatever orders or rulings the Supreme Court may issue in the future.
The next important stage is the debate on the government’s policy statement and a key motion addressing the toxic dust problem in Northern and nearby areas, which we are preparing to present in parliament tomorrow.
I hope all Thai people will help demand a rule-of-law system where laws are applied equally to everyone, not used as political weapons with impunity for allies; a system with strong checks and balances connected to the people, to make politics truly belong to the people together.
