Peoples Party MP Urges Supachai to Clearly Explain Fertilizer Stock Numbers, Questions Possible Hoarding in Fertilizer Industry

Ithipol Choltarasiri urges the Minister of Commerce to clearly answer about the fertilizer data after previously stating supplies would last until May 2026 but not disclosing where the stock is located. He questions whether there are hoarders within the fertilizer industry, emphasizing that the farmers are the ones suffering.

On 31 March 2026, Ithipol Choltarasiri, MP for Khon Kaen District 2 from the People's Party, revealed on 26 March that fertilizer supplies would run out by the end of April. Previously, it was announced that fertilizer was sufficient until May 2026, causing farmers to be unable to plan ahead and leading to confusion. Therefore, today he calls on the government to tell the truth clearly about exactly how long fertilizer stocks will last. The most suspicious point is that the government claims large stock numbers but does not say where the stock is located.

Ithipol questioned whether anyone is secretly hoarding fertilizer to speculate, as happened during the oil shortage, or if the government actually has no data on how much of each fertilizer formula remains, or if there are hoarders within the fertilizer industry.

. . With good intentions, previously the Minister of Commerce seemed to be the most reliable in this government, but when the oil shortage crisis caused turmoil, the minister lost credibility again. Let’s hope it does not happen like that. He believes the confusion over fertilizer data will cause hardship for farmers during the planting season from May to July. . .
