“Ice Cream” Vows to Fight Relentlessly, Affirms 10 People’s Party MPs Will Fully Perform Duties Until Court Ruling

At 10:20 a.m. on 1 April 2026 at the parliament, Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP of the People’s Party, spoke regarding the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s plan to sue 44 former Move Forward MPs for jointly proposing an amendment to Article 112, alleging serious ethical violations, before the Supreme Court. He said that Dr. Wayo Asvarungroj, a party-list MP and deputy head of the People’s Party’s legal team, has prepared a petition stating that if the court accepts the case, it should not lead to suspension from duty. Representing his 10 fellow MPs in the 27th parliament, Parit said they will fully perform their duties until the moment a suspension order is issued. He added that the concern now is not the future of the People’s Party but the future of the country, emphasizing the shared principle that MPs proposing legislation should not face political disqualification. He urged not to rush to conclusions, noting the 44 MPs have not been stripped of any rights yet. Even if the Supreme Court issues an order or disagrees with their petition and orders suspension, it does not conclude guilt; the case must proceed through court examination, which will take time. The party has prepared measures for all scenarios and will fight every step of the way, leaving the final outcome to the court’s judgment.Tags: [National Anti-Corruption Commission, Supreme Court, Move Forward Party, legal case, political process, People’s Party, parliamentary duties]

Parit revealed that the People’s Party’s annual general meeting scheduled for late April will proceed as usual. Whether other agendas will be considered depends on the clarity of ongoing legal processes, particularly regarding whether the court will order suspension from duties. Regarding changes in key positions, he said the party has prepared for all possible scenarios, stating repeatedly that the public is aware of the potential outcomes.Tags: [People’s Party, party meeting, legal process, political preparations, parliamentary leadership]

Urging the new cabinet: No time for trial and errorTags: [cabinet, government, political expectations]

Parit spoke about the composition of the new cabinet, saying the public expects the new government to immediately begin work. Besides ongoing chronic problems, there is also an urgent energy crisis affecting citizens’ livelihoods across all professions, leaving no time for trial and error. He expressed concern about the Songkran festival period, hoping the government will clarify how it will facilitate the public and economy during Songkran, for example, by organizing transparent and open data systems to assure citizens that fuel supplies will not run short and where fuel can be purchased. He also emphasized efforts to facilitate safe public transportation and road safety.Tags: [new cabinet, energy crisis, public expectations, Songkran festival, government transparency, transportation, road safety]
