Piyabutr Laments Legal Warfare Crushing Parliamentary Representatives

Piyabutr lamented that legal warfare is crushing and corralling parliamentary representatives. He said they are being politically 'guillotined' and asked whether Thailand will allow this to continue.

At 11:15 a.m. on 1 April 2026, Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, secretary-general of the Move Forward Party, posted on Facebook regarding the case of 44 Move Forward MPs under review for whether proposing an amendment to Criminal Code Section 112 constituted a serious ethical violation. He said there was nothing seriously unethical about their actions. The ongoing legal warfare crushing them is not about seeking ethics but rather legal warfare aimed at disciplining, weakening, and corralling politicians. It teaches politicians not to dare engage in these matters, warning "Don’t do this if you want to avoid trouble." The message is clear: if you dare act, this is the consequence. It weakens political groups disliked by the 'second license holders' and corrals the parliament, so no representative from any party or any future parliament will dare propose laws on these sensitive issues ever again.

Piyabutr further stated that in present-day Thailand, those who staged coups, tore up the constitution, and seized power with the military have enjoyed nearly a decade of uninterrupted power, facing no consequences and even receiving numerous honors. Meanwhile, representatives who propose laws in parliament are labeled as attempting to overthrow the government, parties are dissolved, politicians and corrupt officials face bans, and society questions these actions. Those who serve the 'second license holders' are elevated, but politicians who rigorously perform oversight, and who are the hope of many, are politically 'guillotined.' This is a problem Thai people must consider: will we allow our beloved Thailand to continue like this? Is what is happening right now right and just?
