Juree Criticizes Government for 5-Month Delay in Hatyai Flood Relief Payments

Juree Numkaew demands flood relief payments for Hatyai, urging the government to stop leaving villagers waiting in vain. She emphasizes that after five months, there is still no sign of progress, revealing that some have had to borrow money to repair their homes.

On 1 Apr 2026 GMT+7 at the parliament, Juree Numkaew, Member of Parliament for Songkhla's 2nd district from the Democrat Party, raised the issue before the Speaker to send a message to the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He demanded flood relief funds for residents of Hatyai district after the major flood at the end of 2025. Five months have passed with no progress.

Juree stated that the late 2025 Hatyai flood was the most severe crisis he and the people of Hatyai have ever faced. Nearly every household was damaged, and currently, farmers and residents are still waiting for relief funds to repair their homes.

"Those who have some money repaired their homes first; some had to borrow money to fix them. But many still have not repaired their houses after five months because they lack funds and are waiting for this lump sum, which is their only hope according to the law," Juree said.

Juree also criticized the slow work procedures of the responsible agencies, citing delays in document verification and repeated requests for the same documents multiple times, which have become obstacles to disbursing the relief budget. Therefore, he asked the Speaker to convey to the Prime Minister, who directly oversees the Ministry of Interior, to urgently order special measures.

"I want the Prime Minister to understand the pain and suffering caused by waiting. Do not let bureaucratic delays worsen the wounds of Hatyai residents who have already endured severe hardships. Please expedite the delivery of these funds to the people as soon as possible," Juree said.
