Prime Minister Appoints Phiphat as Chairman of Fuel Management Committee for Songkran Festival

The Royal Gazette published the Prime Minister’s order establishing a committee to manage fuel distribution during the Songkran festival, appointing Phiphat as chairman of the committee.


On 1 April 2026, reporters noted that the Royal Gazette website published the Prime Minister's Order No. 6/2569 concerning measures to resolve and prevent fuel shortages caused by conflicts in the Middle East (4th edition) 2026. This aims to efficiently manage fuel supply nationwide during the 2026 Songkran festival to facilitate public travel. Under the authority of Section 3 of the Act on Prevention and Resolution of Fuel Shortage B.E. 2516, the Prime Minister ordered the establishment of a Fuel Distribution Management Committee for the 2026 Songkran festival.


Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn serves as chairman of the committee, which includes the Minister of Energy, Minister of Commerce, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Director Generals of the Department of Land Transport, Department of Highways, Department of Energy Business, and Excise Department, the CEO of PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited, and the National Police Chief as secretary and committee member.


The committee’s duties and powers include managing, monitoring, and facilitating the procurement, distribution, and delivery of fuel to gas stations nationwide to ensure sufficient supply for public demand during the 2026 Songkran festival from 6 to 17 April 2026. It also supports, drives, and accelerates government agencies and state units in accordance with their authority and duties to achieve these objectives.


The committee will coordinate and report progress to the Prime Minister and the Center for Management and Monitoring of the Middle East Conflict Situation (CMMS) accordingly.
