Chaiyanat Urges Government to Disclose Names of Two Oil Tankers Heading to Singapore

Chaiyanat, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, urges the government to reveal the names of two oil tankers after reports emerged that their destination is Singapore, stressing that all oil must be used domestically and not exported.

On 2 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Chaiyanat Dechdecho, party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about the government's statement that two Thai oil tankers, owned by two major private companies, safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz. He called on the government to clearly disclose the names of these two vessels to ensure transparency and public confidence, and requested confirmation that sufficient oil will enter Thailand before the Songkran festival to meet public demand.

Chaiyanat added that reports indicate the oil tankers may be headed to Singapore, raising concerns about the route and purpose of this oil transport. Therefore, he said the government should clearly confirm that the imported oil, once refined, will be entirely used within the country and will not be exported abroad, to reassure that the oil supply will meet domestic demand during the festival period.

He emphasized that in this crisis situation, when people are suffering, the government must provide clear, transparent, and verifiable information to build confidence among the public that Thailand will not face short-term oil shortages.
