Santithan Sathienthai has resigned from the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Thailand and as an independent director of Bluebik after widespread rumors that Ekniti Nitithanprapas is set to appoint him as assistant to the Finance Minister.
On 2 April 2026, reporters reported that Mr. Santithan Sathienthai, also known as Dr. Tonsan, a former expert member of the Bank of Thailand's Monetary Policy Committee and advisor on Future Economy at the Thailand Development Research Institute,
It was found that recently Mr. Santithan resigned from the Bank of Thailand's Monetary Policy Committee. However, at the Monetary Policy Committee meeting No. 1/2026 on 25 February 2026, he was still in this position.
He also resigned as an independent director of Bluebik Group Public Company Limited (BBIK) on 30 March.
This followed rumors that Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, would appoint Santithan as assistant to the Minister of Finance and plans to propose this appointment at the Cabinet meeting soon.
