
The Prime Minister drove an electric car to the Government House and summoned Ekniti and Eknat to discuss energy information and oil prices before officially assuming office, after diesel prices rose by another 3.50 baht per liter.
On 3 April 2026 at 08:38 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Chanvirakul arrived at the Government House in his usual electric car and invited Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas, along with Energy Minister Eknat Prompan, to present energy data for discussion. This meeting took place before Anutin officially assumed his position, which requires him to take an oath of office and deliver a policy statement to Parliament.
Yesterday (2 Apr 2026), the Oil Fuel Fund Committee (OFFC) reduced the diesel oil subsidy by 3.51 baht per liter, resulting in a diesel price increase of 3.50 baht per liter. Biodiesel B20 prices also rose by 3.50 baht per liter. This marks a continued upward adjustment, with diesel prices now at 47.74 baht per liter. Additionally, concerns have been raised by various parties about the refining margin increasing by as much as 14 baht per liter.
