The Cabinet Secretary met with the Prime Minister to prepare for a special Cabinet meeting on 6 Apr, discussing the government's policy statement to Parliament. There may be talks on solving the energy crisis due to its urgency, but this depends on legal considerations. The first regular Cabinet meeting is planned for 11 Apr.
At 10:20 a.m. on 3 Apr 2026 at the Government House, Mrs. Natjaree Anantasilp, Cabinet Secretary, revealed after meeting the Prime Minister that the discussion was to prepare for the special Cabinet meeting on 6 Apr. The main agenda includes preparing the government's policy statement to be presented to Parliament on 9-10 Apr. The Cabinet must approve it before the parliamentary presentation, along with general matters such as meeting agenda, timing, and venue.
Mrs. Natjaree added that the meeting may also include appointments to key positions, such as the Prime Minister’s Secretary-General and the Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson, pending whether the Secretariat of the Prime Minister’s Office has submitted the candidate list.
When asked if the special Cabinet meeting might discuss solutions to the current oil price problem, Mrs. Natjaree said there is a possibility since it is an urgent national issue. However, it depends on legal constraints regarding what can be done. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapap is already reviewing the legal aspects to determine what actions are permissible.
Mrs. Natjaree stated that no candidate names for political official positions have been submitted yet for qualification checks. These checks will be stringent, similar to those for Cabinet members, involving seven agencies and 14 criteria.
Reporters noted that after the government's policy statement to Parliament, the first Cabinet meeting is scheduled for 11 Apr.
