Deputy PM Chen Leads Pheu Thai Delegation to Tesla Center to Pave Way for Thai Human Capital Policy Towards High-Value Economy

Deputy Prime Minister Chen led the Pheu Thai team in discussions with Tesla executives to lay the foundation for cooperation in advanced technology, focusing on the development of intelligent robots to boost competitive capabilities.

On 3 April 2026 GMT+7 at the Tesla Center in Bangkok, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), representing the Pheu Thai Party along with a large working group, met with Mr. Hadri Haris, Tesla's Director of Public Affairs and Business Development for Southeast Asia, to exchange views on policy and global technology trends.

Mr. Sukit Srichomkwan, Pheu Thai Party spokesperson, revealed after the meeting that a key topic was the development of “Physical AI,” which integrates artificial intelligence with physical systems such as robots, automation, and intelligent vehicles—a major global industry trend today. Pheu Thai recognizes that Thailand must prepare both policy frameworks and infrastructure to support the transition to a high-value economy.

Furthermore, both sides discussed concrete ways to "upgrade human capital," including a significant proposal to establish an internship program with Tesla to provide Thai youth opportunities to work at a leading global technology company. They also planned to develop a "Maker Space" in cooperation with Thai higher education institutions, creating a space for researchers and students to access international-level technology and modern knowledge.

Joining Professor Dr. Yotsanan and Mr. Sukit were many policy team members from the party, including Mr. Chatrin Janhom, Mr. Anekchai Ruangrattanakorn, Campaign Director, and Mr. Kritikon Wongsawangpanich, Research and Policy Director. This initiative is viewed as a proactive signal from the government and Pheu Thai Party to attract investment and build global private sector partnerships to ensure Thailand's long-term technological security.
