Defense Minister Big Adul Defers to Police on Shooting of Prachachart MP, Confident PM Will Not Overlook Involvement

The Defense Minister requested to wait for the policy statement before discussing approaches to resolving the southern border issues. He stated that the case involving the shooting of a Prachachart Party MP is under police authority and believes that if anyone is implicated, the Prime Minister will not overlook it.


On 4 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defense, spoke about the ongoing situation in the three southern border provinces, where violence has continued.He described the situation as violent.He said that he would need to review the situation further and was cautious about commenting since he has not yet paid his respects or presented his policy statement to parliament. He added that once all formalities are complete, they will discuss the matter further.


Regarding the violence linked to the assassination attempt on Nakorn Sorak Leewamo, the Prachachart Party MP from Narathiwat, Lieutenant General Adul said it is a matter for the police. He expressed confidence that if the investigation connects to anyone, the Prime Minister will not exempt them from accountability.


Concerning the Prachachart Party's claim that the vehicle used in the attack belongs to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), Lieutenant General Adul stated he was uncertain, as it is an issue for the Royal Thai Police.
