Election Commission Summons Two Complainants in Petition to Dissolve Prachachon Party over Laser ID and Spectre C Cases

The Election Commission Office summoned complainants in the petition to dissolve the Prachachon Party over the Spectre C case and the requirement to provide Laser ID for membership, along with evidence, throughout the week before the long Songkran holiday.

On 4 Apr 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at the Election Commission Office, it was reported that Mr. Sa-wang Bunmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission and Registrar of Political Parties, received a petition and opinion to submit to the Constitutional Court for consideration to dissolve the Prachachon Party. The case involves party executives and non-members who engaged in activities related to Spectre C Co., Ltd., a media company, involving actions that may have facilitated benefits and profit-sharing, potentially violating the Political Parties Act B.E. 2560 (2017). Additionally, the Prachachon Party’s online membership registration requires applicants to enter their Laser ID (the code on the back of the ID card). There are suspicions that IO operations were used, with Spectre C as the driving force, possibly dominating party activities and thereby potentially violating the Political Parties Act 2560. The Registrar assigned Committee 2 on fact-finding and evidence collection related to political party registrars to gather relevant facts and evidence concerning this petition.

A reporter reported that recently, Committee 2 on fact-finding and evidence collection of the Political Party Registrar sent an urgent confidential letter summoning complainants, including Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Rak Chart Rak Phandin organization, Mr. Tankwin Rattawat Angkun, an independent scholar, and related witnesses, to provide testimony at the Election Commission Office during 7-10 Apr 2026, along with evidence. This is to formulate an opinion for the Registrar’s further consideration.
