Biography of Nikorn Jamnong: Party-list MP of Bhumjaithai Party and Former Key Figure Beside Banharn Silpa-archa

Biography of Nikorn Jamnong, former key figure beside Banharn Silpa-archa, political personnel of the Chart Thai Pattana Party before Top Warawut led the team to join the Blue Camp. Recently promoted to party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party.

On 4 Apr 2026 GMT+7, after Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture and 5th party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party, submitted a letter resigning from her position as a member of the House of Representatives effective 2 Apr 2026 GMT+7, her membership ended under Section 101 (3) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560 (2017).

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, exercising power under Section 105 (2) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560 (2017), announced that the next person on the Bhumjaithai Party’s party-list would be promoted to replace her. The person ranked 20th, Mr. Nikorn Jamnong, was elevated to member of the House of Representatives.

Biography of Nikorn Jamnong

Mr. Nikorn Jamnong was born on 5 Dec 1955 GMT+7 in Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province. He is currently 70 years old. He holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Chiang Mai University and a master's degree in Public Administration from Tarleton State University, United States.

Political Career

Mr. Nikorn Jamnong has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives five times: in the 1988 election representing Songkhla Province, in the 1992 election representing Songkhla Province affiliated with the Chart Thai Party, in the 2005 party-list election affiliated with the Chart Thai Party, in the 2019 party-list election affiliated with the Chart Thai Pattana Party, and in the 2026 party-list election affiliated with the Bhumjaithai Party.

Mr. Nikorn was one of the politicians banned from politics for five years after the Chart Thai Party was dissolved in 2008. He later returned to political activity with the Chart Thai Pattana Party. He served as the former chairman of the advisory board to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security (Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa), director of the Chart Thai Pattana Party, and former Deputy Minister of Transport in Thaksin Shinawatra's government in 2002.

Mr. Nikorn was also appointed as a member of the Political Party Development Committee for National Reform under the Constitution by the Election Commission's order 14/2017 and served as chairman of the special committee on driving reforms in the road safety system.

Mr. Nikorn Jamnong is a veteran political figure who has long been with the Chart Thai Party, regarded as a key figure beside former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa. When the Chart Thai Party was dissolved and reformed as the Chart Thai Pattana Party under the leadership of Warawut Silpa-archa, Mr. Nikorn continued working with the Chart Thai Pattana Party.

The Chart Thai Pattana Party made a major political decision when Warawut Silpa-archa, the party leader, officially joined the Bhumjaithai Party on 23 Nov 2025 GMT+7 to contest the election on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7. He brought with him the Chart Thai Pattana Party members from the Suphan Buri faction, including Mr. Nikorn Jamnong, to join the Bhumjaithai Party.

Mr. Nikorn ran as a party-list MP candidate ranked 20th. Most recently, on 3 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Royal Gazette published an announcement from the House of Representatives promoting Mr. Nikorn Jamnong to party-list MP of the Bhumjaithai Party, replacing Ms. Sabida Thaiset who resigned from the position.
