Poll Shows Lack of Confidence in Government: Anutin Faces Doubts Over Suppachai, Sihasak, Akniti Handling Energy Crisis

NIDA Poll revealed survey results showing the public lacks confidence in three external ministers—Suppachai, Sihasak, and Akniti—in addressing the energy and economic crises. Moreover, the majority express little sympathy for the crisis management efforts of the 'Anutin government.'


On 5 April 2026, the NIDA Poll Center at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released survey results titled “Professional Ministers… Can They Handle It?” The survey was conducted from 31 March to 1 April 2026 with a total sample of 1,310 people, gathering public opinion on the efforts of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government in resolving the energy and economic crises.

When asked about public confidence in the three external ministers leading the country through the energy and economic crises, the findings were as follows:

1. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs,

  • 30.23% said they had no confidence at all,
  • 29.54% said they had little confidence,
  • 22.82% said they had moderate confidence,
  • 16.03% said they had high confidence,
  • and 1.38% did not respond or did not know.

2. Ms. Suppachai Suthamphan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce,

  • 33.89% said they had no confidence at all,
  • 28.70% said they had little confidence,
  • 21.91% said they had moderate confidence,
  • 14.35% said they had high confidence,
  • and 1.15% did not respond or did not know.

3. Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance,

  • 40.38% said they had no confidence at all,
  • 37.10% said they had little confidence,
  • 14.12% said they had moderate confidence,
  • 7.10% said they had high confidence,
  • and 1.30% did not respond or did not know.

Finally, when asked about public sympathy toward Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government in efforts to resolve the energy and economic crises, the results showed that

  • 46.87% said they have no sympathy at all,
  • 23.59% said they have moderate sympathy,
  • 19.39% said they have little sympathy,
  • 9.77% said they have great sympathy,
  • and 0.38% did not respond or were indifferent.
