Former Khon Kaen MP for Constituency 1, Thitinun, died by suicide at Bueng Kaen Nakhon. He was reportedly suffering from liver cancer and accumulated stress. Relatives do not suspect foul play.

At 06:00 on 5 April 2026, Police Lieutenant Panya Thinklan, Deputy Investigator at Muang Khon Kaen Police Station, received a report from the Kaen Nakhon Radio Center that a body had been found shot dead near the earthen jar plaza at Bueng Kaen Nakhon, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province. Officers were requested to investigate the scene.

Upon arrival, the deceased was found to be a man wearing a long-sleeved hooded shirt, white long pants, and sneakers, lying on his back in a pool of blood. He had a gunshot wound to the right temple and was holding a 9mm Sig Sauer P365 pistol in his right hand. Police seized the firearm as evidence.

Police Colonel Yoswat Kaewseubthanyanij, Superintendent of Muang Khon Kaen Police Station, revealed after the investigation that the deceased was Mr. Thitinun Saengnak, 65, residing at 999/2, Village No. 2, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province. He had previously been elected as MP for Khon Kaen Constituency 1 with the Future Forward Party in 2019 before switching to the Bhumjaithai Party. He ran for re-election in 2023 but lost.

Investigations with relatives and his wife revealed that the deceased regularly exercised by running at Bueng Kaen Nakhon. He had current health issues, including liver cancer and stress, which are believed to have contributed to his decision. Before the incident, he left home as usual, and his wife did not suspect any intention of self-harm. The wife and relatives expressed no doubts about the cause of death. The firearm used belonged to the deceased.

After the scene was examined, investigators will send the body to the forensic department at Srinagarind Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the precise cause of death before releasing the body to relatives for traditional funeral rites.

Mr. Thitinun Saengnak, after being elected as MP for Khon Kaen Constituency 1 with the Future Forward Party, switched to the Bhumjaithai Party in 2019. Subsequently, a man unhappy with his party change left a funeral wreath at Mr. Thitinun's home, leading to police intervention and prosecution. Mr. Thitinun ran for election again in 2023 but was not re-elected and withdrew from political life until this incident occurred.
