5 April 2026 GMT+7 Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, posted a message onFacebookfollowing the death of a volunteer while performing forest fire suppression duties. He stated that the incident brought deep sorrow to him and all ministry staff regarding the passing of Boonma Phadang, a volunteer of the Saluang village forest fire patrol team.
“This sacrifice is a significant loss. I have instructed relevant agencies to fully support the family’s rights and welfare, honor him as a model of selflessness for society, and assigned the Director-General of the Royal Forest Department to represent us at the funeral and closely support the family.”
Boonma Phadang died while fighting a forest fire and creating firebreaks in Saluang Subdistrict, Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province, on 31 March 2026. He was dedicated to community service and played a vital role in protecting natural resources and community safety.
