Teng Urges Government to Establish Firefighting Command Center, Cites Systemic Coordination Failures

"Teng Natthapong" urges the government to promptly implement a Single Command by establishing a central command center for wildfire suppression. He says that each operational team working without coordination is a systemic failure, not a fault of the frontline officers.

5 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, party-list MP and leader of the People's Party, posted a message viaFacebook, addressing what the government should do. He shared a post from the "Volunteers for the People" page, which included a video of volunteers trapped by fire during a mission, to fight wildfires. He noted that he happened to be present on the day of the incident and that this year's mission has become twice as demanding. State officials from every unit are under heavy pressure from higher authorities.

"What the government should do now is establish a Single Command. Some accidents at the scene may result from each operational team working without coordination, which is not the fault of the frontline personnel but a systemic failure due to the absence of a central command center to assign tasks and areas for each team to work in harmony," he said.

Natthapong concluded by stating that a central command center (Single Command) for wildfire suppression, which occurs seasonally every year, is something the government should urgently implement immediately.
