“Chane - Golf Akkaranan” Exchange Views on Thai Education, Emphasize Full Commitment to Work

“Yotchanan - Akkaranan,” two Education Ministers, exchanged views on Thai education, affirming their full commitment to reviving hope in Thai education, ensuring teachers find joy in teaching, and making schools safe zones free from violence.

5 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, along with Mr. Akkaranan Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, joined a discussion and exchange of views on the topic “What if we all stood up to change Thai education?” at the “Teachers Shine Year 7” event organized by the Facebook page “Teacher Movement.”

Mr. Akkaranan said he wants to see hope restored in Thai education. Working with Mr. Yotchanan feels like a teamwork effort to bring hope back to education. He admitted feeling burdened initially about overseeing education but, as part of his responsibility, he wants to be a new generation in the Ministry of Education pushing for the greatest possible changes in Thai education.

He emphasized the need to revive hope in Thai education by making teachers happy to teach and reducing unnecessary workloads, especially paperwork, thereby increasing quality time in the classroom. Additionally, continuous support for teacher welfare and professional development is essential so teachers can teach to their full potential. Schools should also be safe places free from violence, bullying, and discrimination, with serious systems to care for students and promote their physical and mental well-being comprehensively.

“I firmly believe no one or political party wants to see Thailand fall behind. Therefore, the most important thing is to start with quality education. As a cog in the Ministry of Education, I will prove our commitment to working hard for better education in Thailand.”
