NACC Secretary Reveals Indictment of Former 44 Move Forward MPs Over Section 112 Amendment Awaiting Supreme Court Filing Before or After Songkran

The NACC Secretary revealed the indictment of former 44 Move Forward MPs over involvement in amending Section 112, with anticipation whether the filing to the Supreme Court will occur before or after Songkran. He clarified there is no political interference, but due to the volume of information, more time is needed to complete the documentation properly.

On 6 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), updated on the progress of submitting the petition to the Supreme Court concerning the 44 former Move Forward MPs accused of serious ethical violations. He said NACC officials are rapidly compiling documents, as the petition includes 56 sets of supporting materials. These must be submitted to both the panel of judges and the opposing parties. The large volume is why NACC is not delaying the petition but ensuring careful thoroughness.

“I confirm there is absolutely no political involvement. This follows procedural steps and the timeline of the process. There is no directive or anything of that sort. The petition aligns with findings issued by the Constitutional Court. Whether it will be filed before or after Songkran on 9 April will be decided after reviewing details again, as this is a sensitive matter that must be fully complete before submission.”

Mr. Surapong added that the NACC’s resolution to indict is based on evaluating behavior and content, assessing whether individuals in such positions should have acted as they did and whether it constitutes serious ethical violations. The NACC does not question MPs’ rights to propose legal amendments, contrary to accusations from MPs of the People's Party. However, all details are included in the petition and cannot be disclosed.
