The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) clarifies the case of false impersonation and robbery in Chonburi, affirming the suspects are not ONCB officers and pledges to prosecute to the fullest extent. It confirms that every ONCB officer must present an identification card during official duties at all times.
On 6 April 2026, Police Major Suraya Singhkamon, Secretary-General of the ONCB, stated that the Narcotics Control Office Region 2 promptly conducted a fact-finding operation following reports that a group impersonating ONCB officers used firearms and knives to threaten and rob motorcycles from residents in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, in the early hours of 4 April.
Under these orders, Task Force 1 immediately deployed to the area, strictly following official ONCB procedures, including investigating and gathering evidence, inspecting the crime scene, interviewing victims, and coordinating with local police to ensure the facts were accurate, complete, and verifiable.
The investigation found two victims who consistently reported that the perpetrators were acquaintances, one of whom was named “Ex,” who had previously impersonated an ONCB officer and brought a motorcycle for repairs before a dispute escalated into this serious incident.
The investigation identified the suspect as Mr. Panthuchai, who has a criminal record for property offenses but no links to drugs. It was confirmed clearly that he is neither an ONCB officer nor a government official. Authorities have coordinated with investigators at Nong Prue Police Station to apprehend him and proceed with legal action.
The ONCB, Ministry of Justice, emphasized that impersonating government officials is a serious offense and will be dealt with decisively. It reaffirmed that all ONCB officers must identify themselves, show official ID cards, and strictly follow legal procedures.
Police Major Suraya also requested public cooperation to act as eyes and ears by reporting any drug-related tips or suspicious behavior through the ONCB hotline 1386, a reliable resource for all drug-related issues, available 24 hours a day, under the concept. “You report, we arrest.” Together, we can build a safe, drug-free society sustainably.
