Anutin Warns That Oil Will Not Only Be Expensive but Also Scarce, Urges Public to Save Energy and Work From Home

Prime Minister Anutin warned that oil will not only become more expensive but also harder to obtain. He instructed all government agencies to strictly conserve energy and called on the public to cooperate by working from home and using public transportation. He affirmed that the new government will resolve the problems as quickly as possible.

At 13:18 on 6 April 2026, reporters reported that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, posted a message viahis personal Facebook page, regarding the war situation in the Middle East. In summary, he stated that the conflict has expanded to include attacks on infrastructure and oil refineries. This situation puts the world at risk of an energy crisis, especially due to the imbalance between oil supply and demand, as oil must be transported from the Middle East worldwide. It is believed that the conflict will intensify and may last a long time before reaching a resolution.

The problem ahead is not just higher oil prices but also increasing difficulty in sourcing imported oil. Although Thailand maintains higher oil reserves compared to other countries, it remains vulnerable as a nation heavily reliant on imported oil from various oil-exporting countries, so complacency is not an option. There is a need to raise awareness and understanding of the situation and find ways to manage domestic oil conditions to minimize impact on the population.

Mr. Anutin further stated that within the government sector, the Cabinet has resolved for civil servants to work from home and implement other energy-saving measures previously.

“Today, I must firmly instruct all government agencies to rigorously implement these measures. I also ask for cooperation from the public and private sectors to save energy in similar ways, whether it is WFH (Work From Home) or WFA (Work From Anywhere), reducing private car use and switching to public transport, carpooling, and using electricity consciously.”

The Prime Minister added that in the near future, other measures may be introduced to the public along with explanations to foster understanding and cooperation. He urged confidence that the government will do everything possible to alleviate impacts on all citizens without ever giving up or becoming weary. He firmly believes that every crisis carries opportunities, and he can create chances to compensate for losses during crises each time. This occasion is no exception. With the united strength of the Thai people, we will overcome this difficult time successfully as always.

“Today, the new Cabinet will have an audience with His Majesty the King, enabling the government to operate fully. I assure you that the new government will expedite solving problems and removing obstacles to restore the quality of life and well-being to all citizens as soon as possible.”
