Prime Minister Urges Ministers to Attend Cabinet Meetings Regularly and Start Work Immediately

Anutin led a special Cabinet meeting, requesting ministers to begin work in their ministries immediately, noting that choosing a convenient auspicious time is best. He emphasized strict attendance every Tuesday and stressed that the Cabinet is united without party divisions, believing this unity will enable the country to overcome all challenges.

At 19:49 on 6 Apr 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Before starting the special Cabinet meeting, he congratulated all ministers for coming together as part of this Cabinet. All of us have recently received the royal speech from His Majesty the King after our oath-taking ceremony, indicating that this Cabinet is ready to govern the country.

The oath we all pledged before the head of state should be our guiding principle in working and solving the difficulties faced by our fellow citizens. This Cabinet must be considered a hard-working one from day one, with no honeymoon period or trial phase. Everyone has already passed the probation period.

“We assume our duties amid global crises caused by conflicts in the Middle East. Thailand is inevitably affected. Nonetheless, I believe that with the cooperation of all Cabinet members, we will solve problems, alleviate hardships, and advance our country’s development. Let us hold the interests of the people as our common goal.”

We are a single Cabinet with no coalition parties.

The Prime Minister added that most Cabinet members already know each other well. Many senior members are respected by all, and many young members have the energy and wisdom ready to serve the nation. He urged everyone to fully collaborate, leveraging each other’s strengths to ensure the government’s mission proceeds efficiently.

“I respectfully inform all ministers that this Cabinet is a unified body, with no coalition parties. It is the Cabinet of His Majesty the King and the Thai people. Therefore, I am ready to listen to all your opinions, suggestions, policies, and actions. We will avoid unnecessary formalities. Everyone should work with love, unity, and mutual understanding. Given Thailand’s current situation, our Cabinet’s unity will help the country overcome all obstacles.”

If you cannot attend Cabinet meetings, you cannot work for the people.

Cabinet meetings will be held every Tuesday, mostly on the 5th floor of the Government House, starting at 10:00 a.m. Before meetings, ministers wishing to discuss matters among themselves or with the Prime Minister should notify the Cabinet Secretary. I am ready to meet with all and support your intentions fully.”

He also urged all ministers to treat Cabinet meetings as highly important government affairs. He candidly noted that since before he became Prime Minister and during the previous government about five months ago, the Cabinet Secretary regularly announced absences, with full attendance only on the first day. Ministers often had other duties. He earnestly requested cooperation: if we cannot attend Cabinet meetings, we cannot serve the people. The Cabinet is where we consult each other. We are not mere rubber stamps; we must use our knowledge, experience, and ability to make Cabinet resolutions powerful and correct.

Therefore, he asked all ministers to strictly prioritize Cabinet meetings, except when on official overseas trips, duty shifts, or royal service. Everyone should attend meetings together. Avoid piling up paperwork; sign files at the ministry or arrange senior officials to handle them. Meetings are scheduled every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. I will strive to keep meetings under two hours, as previous governments’ prime ministers managed meetings efficiently without extending into lunchtime. This practice is effective, so I will endeavor to keep meetings within the set time, except when very important or unusually heavy agendas arise.

There is nothing to worry about since most of us know each other well, except for some new ministers who are members of parliament. We are familiar with each other. I believe our work will proceed smoothly, and if problems arise, I am always ready to assist you in resolving them to ensure your missions succeed.

Emphasize all ministries to implement energy-saving measures.

Today’s special Cabinet meeting will jointly consider the draft government policy statement before sending it to the Speaker of Parliament. Earlier, I met with the Speaker who emphasized that if the Cabinet approves the draft today, the Cabinet Secretary should immediately request Parliament to convene without waiting until tomorrow, so the government policy statement can be scheduled promptly. Agreements on Cabinet meeting procedures and appointments of key political officials will also be arranged.

Given the current energy situation, saving energy is urgent and essential. All sectors must cooperate, especially the government, which should set a good example for the people. Previous orders remain in effect, including Work From Home or Work From Anywhere policies, as these have not been seriously implemented yet.

For agencies lacking readiness or IT systems, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Digital Government Agency (DGA), and the Office of the Council of State will support implementation. The Council of State has successfully implemented Work From Home and Work From Anywhere for years and can advise government agencies. The Budget Bureau should support funding as necessary. Ministers are requested to supervise to ensure Work From Home policies effectively save energy and serve as good examples for the public.

Simultaneously, the Office of the Prime Minister's Secretary (OPMS) should revise the regulations regarding government vehicles under its care and the Government Vehicle Committee to suit current circumstances. Options for future vehicles, such as electric or even hydrogen-powered cars, should be included. I ask Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat to provide additional useful information to help OPMS issue vehicle regulations for maximum benefit.

Regarding medicine, I entrust Minister of Public Health Mr. Patthana Prompattana to ensure readiness, as crises may cause disruptions in medicine transport, shortages, or packaging issues related to materials derived from petroleum refining or the petrochemical downstream industry. Please strengthen national medicine security. Many domestic medicines remain underused; regulations should be improved to focus on using domestically produced medicines as much as possible.

Lastly, I inform the Cabinet that I have issued six Prime Minister’s orders under the Emergency Decree on Fuel Shortage to address fuel shortages caused by Middle East conflicts. The Cabinet Secretary will briefly summarize these orders for the Cabinet’s awareness before the regular agenda. I invite Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Pakorn Nilprapunt to explain his role and necessary actions before the Cabinet submits the policy statement to Parliament.

Ministers are requested to enter their ministries immediately; the most auspicious time is now.

I ask everyone to start work in their ministries from tomorrow (7 April). Every day is auspicious for us. Today, we have had an audience with His Majesty the King and received royal guidance. Nothing could be more auspicious or auspicious than this. Please cooperate fully as our country must work diligently; the government must work diligently. Tomorrow, please enter your ministries. Religious rites and worship of sacred objects can be performed accordingly.

“However, I believe the best auspicious time is a convenient one. When I started, I did not wait for formal appointments but began immediately. Today, you are appointed and begin immediately. If I cannot do it, no one else can. So, let us go in and work hard tomorrow and push everything forward.”
