"Je Ruay," the newly appointed Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, posted on Facebook stating that she has "no prominent family name or political lineage" appended to her surname, asking for a chance to prove her skills and utilize her knowledge to work as best as possible.
At 9:00 p.m. on 6 April 2026 GMT+7, Mrs. Suksomruay Wantaneeyakul, the newly appointed Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office—widely known as "Je Ruay"—a two-term Member of Parliament from Amnat Charoen, posted on Facebook introducing herself as a native of Amnat Charoen who lives with her family there. Her family originally ran a private business; among her siblings, none were politicians and she had no political capital. Therefore, she considers that her surname does not carry the suffixes "prominent family" or "political lineage."
Going back to 2019, Mrs. Suksomruay entered politics for the first time as a secretary to Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, Minister of Transport, before deciding to run for election as MP for Amnat Charoen under the Bhumjaithai Party in 2023 and again in 2026.
Mrs. Suksomruay also stated that the position of Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office is beyond what a northeastern woman from Amnat Charoen could have expected. Her political roles so far have been not only experiences but life lessons that have shaped her understanding of "working for the public good," enduring pressure, expectations, and obstacles to overcome.
In 2023, Ruay decided to run for MP in Amnat Charoen District 1 under the Bhumjaithai Party because of one sentence from a respected elder who said to her, "If you become an MP, you will be able to help the people more than before." That phrase was not just advice but a belief that Ruay has held and used as motivation in her work ever since. Today, in 2026, Ruay has been given another opportunity, which is not just a position but a significant "trust," Mrs. Suksomruay said.
Mrs. Suksomruay added that the only things she has are determination, honesty, and gratitude toward those who have supported her and the land. She always believes that every opportunity in life is not a coincidence but a chance to prove oneself by doing the best. The position of Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office is not merely an achievement but a responsibility to be carried out diligently and worthy of the trust given. She will work harder, think more carefully, and stand firm in doing what is right for the benefit of the people.
"I will not forget where I come from and will not stop developing to go further for the sake of our country. Ruay promises to perform her duties as Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office with all her knowledge, ability, and heart for the people and our nation to the very best."
