Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul led the three newly appointed Deputy Ministers—Phonphir, Jeset, and Warasit—into the Ministry of Interior, delivering guidance to civil servants. He expressed his joy at returning as Minister of Interior and assured that he is not inexperienced, having substantial experience, and is confident in his ability to serve the public effectively.
At 07:47 on 7 April 2026, at the Ministry of Interior headquarters, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, paid respects to the sacred symbols of the Ministry on the occasion of assuming office following his oath-taking on 6 April. He was accompanied by Deputy Ministers of Interior Phonphir Suwannachavee, Jeset Thaiseth, and Warasit Liangprasith. Ministry Permanent Secretary Arsit Sampantarat and senior ministry officials welcomed them.
Upon the Prime Minister's arrival, the Land Defense Volunteers Band signaled their presence. The Prime Minister and Deputy Ministers then paid homage to the Buddha Mahanuanak Patimakorn at the Nak Prok Buddha Hall in Sirindhorn Park, located at the Ministry’s headquarters. They received a salute as Commander and Deputy Commander of the Land Defense Volunteers from the honor guard of the Ministry’s Land Defense Volunteers (Or Sor). They then paid respects at the Chai Mongkol Shrine, the Kaan Chai Sri Shrine, the monument of Somdet Phra Krom Phraya Damrong Rajanubhab, the Ministry’s first Permanent Secretary. They proceeded to the central hall stairs to pay tribute to his portrait, then entered the reception room to honor his cast statue and to pay royal respects to the statues of King Mongkut (Rama IV), King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), and King Vajiravudh (Rama VI).
Next, they proceeded to the Rajasi Meeting Room to introduce themselves and meet with Ministry of Interior civil servants present, as well as connect via videoconference to provincial halls and district offices nationwide. Governors, deputy governors, provincial clerks, heads of provincial offices, heads of government agencies at the provincial level, district chiefs, deputy district chiefs, village heads, and Ministry network partners attended to listen.
Anutin said, “We are all glad to return to serve again at the Ministry of Interior alongside all of you. This time, there have been changes in the Deputy Minister positions, but the Minister of Interior remains the same. I have carefully considered the three Deputy Ministers, who possess the ability and are necessary to bring benefits to the Ministry and the people. They are not inexperienced—while younger than me in age, they have the qualifications, experience, education, and responsibilities. These three are political personnel who have served as members of the House of Representatives, elected directly by the people in their respective constituencies. In their roles as parliamentarians, they have served on various committees. For example, Phonphir has worked with me since 2019 as Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister and later as a member of the House of Representatives.”
Anutin joked about Jeset, saying, “At first glance, he looks like Rajesh Khanna, the Indian superstar, but in reality, everyone knows him as the Member of Parliament for Uthai Thani Province. He has extensive parliamentary experience and a deep understanding of governance and local people's needs. As for Warasit, this is probably his third term as a Member of Parliament.”
Regarding oversight of agencies within the Ministry, initially, Anutin assigned Warasit to supervise Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Department of Local Administration, the Wastewater Management Authority, and the Market Organization.
Jeset was assigned to oversee the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, and the Provincial Waterworks Authority.
Phonphir was assigned to supervise the Community Development Department, the Department of Lands, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and the Provincial Electricity Authority.
