The former 44 Move Forward MPs are on edge as the NACC Secretary-General confirms that if the petition documents are complete, they will be submitted to the Supreme Court on 9 April immediately, denying any hidden political agenda despite the filing coinciding with the government's policy address day.
On 7 April 2026, Mr. Surapong Intarathaworn, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), spoke about the progress of submitting a petition to the Supreme Court to charge the former 44 Move Forward MPs with serious ethical violations related to proposing amendments to Criminal Code Section 112. He said officials are currently rushing to photocopy supporting documents for the petition, comprising 56 sets totaling tens of thousands of pages, to submit to the Supreme Court panel and its secretariat. On 9 April 2026, officials will deliver all documents to the secretariat. If these supporting documents are complete, the petition will be filed with the Supreme Court on that day. However, if the documents are incomplete, the submission may be postponed. He affirmed that the NACC is working diligently and will file the petition on 9 April if ready.
When asked whether filing the petition with the Supreme Court on 9 April 2026 would coincide with the government's policy address to Parliament, Mr. Surapong responded that it is definitely not related to politics. If the petition is filed that day, it is simply a procedural step. The Supreme Court will then convene a panel to review and consider the NACC's petition before deciding whether to accept it and order the accused to suspend their duties. The timing of that decision is unknown and is at the Supreme Court's discretion.
