Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt aims to push forward two major issues: legal reforms and promoting Thailand's entry into the OECD to elevate the nation and attract investors.
On 7 April 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt spoke about his role in the current government, expressing his commitment to advancing key legal matters, including:
1. The Electronic Transactions Act B.E. 2544 (2001), an important law that needs modernization due to current changes in digital technology and the involvement of artificial intelligence (AI). Thailand must adapt accordingly. All draft laws have been completed by the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and are awaiting Cabinet consideration.
2. The draft Act on Facilitation and Public Services to the People, considered the core of the Super License system, expected to be completed and effective within 180 days. This bill is currently with the parliament; the government may recall it for a Cabinet resolution to confirm it. Once submitted to parliament, a joint committee may be established to make minor amendments before seeking parliamentary approval for enactment.
Pakorn stated that his work will also focus on promoting Thailand’s legal and regulatory standards to align with international principles under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), of which Thailand has applied for membership. He believes that without adapting to global standards, Thailand cannot keep pace with the rapidly changing world nor attract investors. Therefore, updating laws and regulations to be more modern is essential.
Pakorn said, “Regarding the legal guillotine, I won’t be focusing on that, but on developing and modernizing laws to meet international standards. This is crucial for joining the OECD because the world is moving in this direction. We cannot remain as we are; if we don’t follow these standards, investors have said they will no longer come. This would be the end. We must improve these matters to meet higher standards.”
