Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt aims to advance two major priorities: legal reform and promoting Thailand’s entry into the OECD to elevate the country and attract investors.
On 7 April 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt spoke about his role in the current government, expressing his commitment to pushing forward key legal matters, including:
1. The Electronic Transactions Act B.E. 2544 (2001), a crucial law that requires modernization due to ongoing digital technology changes, including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Thailand must adapt accordingly. The draft laws have been completed by the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and are awaiting Cabinet consideration.
2. The draft Facilitation and Public Service Act, which serves as the core system for the Super License, is expected to be finalized and enforced within 180 days. This bill is currently before the Parliament. The government may need to withdraw it to secure Cabinet approval for confirmation. Upon resubmission to Parliament, a joint committee might be established to make minor amendments before parliamentary endorsement for enactment.
Pakorn stated that his work will also focus on advancing Thailand’s legal and regulatory frameworks to align with international standards per the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) criteria, for which Thailand has applied for membership. He noted that without updating to these global standards, Thailand cannot keep pace with the rapidly changing world nor attract investors. Therefore, modernizing laws and regulations is imperative.
Pakorn added, "I will not focus on cutting down laws but on developing and updating them to comply with international rules, which is crucial for entering the OECD. The world is moving in this direction; we cannot remain as we are. If we don’t adapt, investors have said they will stop coming. That would be the end. We must improve these matters to meet higher standards."
