Air Force Clarifies U.S. Fighter Jets Landing in Krabi Carry No Military Significance

The Air Force clarified the issue of U.S. fighter jets landing at Krabi Airport for troop rotation and air medical evacuation missions, emphasizing there is no military significance or involvement in any conflict.

On 8 April 2026, Air Lieutenant General Jakkrit Thammavichai, Air Force spokesperson, explained that the U.S. aircraft landing at Krabi International Airport was for troop rotation and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) missions, which are routine operations of the U.S. military and part of the longstanding security cooperation between Thailand and the United States.

The operation followed all relevant procedures and regulations. The U.S. side obtained diplomatic clearance through the prescribed channels, and approval was granted by the appropriate Thai authorities.

Coordination was also conducted with local agencies in Krabi province, including security forces, the airport, and support units, to facilitate and supervise the operation smoothly, ensuring no impact on public safety or local services.

The Air Force confirmed that this landing was conducted under existing cooperation frameworks and is a normal activity without any special or military significance. Permission for the aircraft to land was granted under standard conditions applied uniformly to all countries and is unrelated to regional conflicts or any involvement therein.

The Air Force assured the public that every step was closely supervised by Thai authorities with respect for sovereignty, national security, and the interests of the people as top priorities.
