
The Election Commission hosted the Songkran Festival with executives and staff performing the traditional water pouring to honor elders, actively preserving Thai customs. Saewang sprinkled holy water from Chao Khun Thongchai to bring auspiciousness to Election Commission personnel.
At 10:00 a.m. on 8 April 2026, the Office of the Election Commission (EC) held its annual Songkran event to uphold Thailand's cherished traditions, express unity, and show loyalty to the organization. Mr. Narong Klunwarin, EC Chairman, together with Mr. Thitithet Nuchanat, Mr. Anan Suwanrat, Mr. Jiruth Wisaljit, EC commissioners, and Mr. Saewang Bunmee, Secretary-General, along with executives, civil servants, and staff participated. Mr. Narong led the ceremony by first pouring water over the EC office Buddha statue, then EC commissioners received the traditional water pouring ceremony. Subsequently, executives, civil servants, and staff poured water to seek blessings from the commissioners and Secretary-General in celebration of the Thai New Year, with staff joining in full harmony.
Mr. Narong stated that the Songkran Festival is a significant and long-standing tradition filled with warmth. The EC office places great importance on organizing the event continuously. It is a noble practice that all of us value and strive to preserve, ensuring Songkran remains meaningful for all. He encouraged everyone to help maintain this cultural tradition forever before wishing all a happy and prosperous Songkran Festival.
A reporter noted that during the traditional water pouring ceremony, Mr. Saewang prepared a personal water gun filled with holy water from Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkholmuni (Thongchai Thammathadcho) of Wat Traimit Witthayaram to sprinkle on those pouring water on him, to enhance auspiciousness.
