Election Commission Secretary-General Reveals Over 70,000 Pages of Documents Being Prepared in Senate Vote Rigging Case Careful Consideration Required Due to Numerous Accused

The Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC) revealed that the Senate vote rigging case is currently compiling over 70,000 pages of documents to be included in the meeting agenda. He noted the case is complex with multiple charges and many accused individuals, requiring the EC to examine it thoroughly and carefully.

On 8 Apr 2026 at 11:40 GMT+7, at the Election Commission Office, Mr. Saweang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the EC, provided an update on the Senate vote rigging case. He said the case is currently in the administrative stage at the EC office, where documents are being prepared for inclusion in the meeting agenda. The case involves a large volume of documents—around 70,000 pages—with about 2,000 pages consisting of opinions. Therefore, time is needed to prepare the documents completely before presenting them to the EC meeting. How the EC will deliberate depends on the discretion of the commissioners, who must examine details carefully because the case is complex, involves multiple charges, and has many accused individuals.

Mr. Anan Suwanrat, an EC member, stated that the EC is awaiting the office to send the case for consideration. He acknowledged that there is a large amount of information, which the office is working to process promptly. He affirmed that the EC will handle the case carefully and denied any delay tactics. The EC is ready to review the case once it is presented at the meeting, with consideration depending on the facts within the case file.
