Anutin declined to speak and refused media interviews as he prepared for tomorrow’s policy address.
At 13:00 on 8 April 2026, reporters at the parliament reported that after Mr. Anutin Chanvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, arrived at the parliament building to sign in for a parliamentary session as a party-list MP for Bhumjaithai Party, he stayed for about an hour before leaving for the Government House. When reporters asked about the recent U.S. and Iran agreement to a two-week ceasefire and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, considered a positive sign, Anutin did not answer but only nodded.
Reporters then asked about discussions with the Russian ambassador to Thailand concerning possible oil purchases from Russia. Anutin again did not reply verbally, only nodding. As he walked to his car with reporters following and asking questions, a reporter asked if he would give any interview at all. Anutin got into his vehicle, smiled at the media, but did not answer any questions. At 13:19, he proceeded to carry out duties at the Government House. When reporters asked if there was any good news about the Strait of Hormuz reopening, the Prime Minister smiled and nodded but did not respond verbally before entering the Thai Khu Fah building.
At 15:26, the Prime Minister left the Thai Khu Fah building carrying a blue cabinet policy statement booklet decorated with the national flag, likely preparing for tomorrow morning’s government policy address to parliament on 9 April. Before getting into his car, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry Atthasit Sampanrat spoke with the Prime Minister briefly.
Reporters tried to call out to the Prime Minister for an interview, but he did not turn around and immediately left the Government House by car.
