Chaiyachana Demands Government Clarify Oil Tanker’s Stop in Singapore Before Arriving in Thailand: Was Oil Sold in Singapore?

Chaiyachana Dechadecho, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, has raised concerns that an oil tanker stopped in Singapore before arriving in Thailand and urged the government to clarify whether any oil was sold in Singapore.

On 9 Apr 2026, Chaiyachana Dechadecho, a party-list MP and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, questioned the government’s claim that it had negotiated with Iran to allow two tankers—one from Bangchak and one from SCG—to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, originally scheduled to arrive in Thailand on 6 Apr. However, upon investigation, one tanker carrying 180 million liters of oil stopped in Singapore first, offloading 70 million liters there, before arriving in Thailand on 8 Apr with 110 million liters on board. He questioned whether Bangchak had sold oil in Singapore before bringing it to Thailand.

Chaiyachana added that he is suspicious because the government said it negotiated for both ships, yet one tanker stopped in Singapore before entering Thailand. He called on the government to provide a clear explanation.

“If the government negotiated, in principle the entire shipment should enter Thailand. But if some oil was sold in Singapore, they should simply explain this to the public,” he said.
