
General Prawit Wongsuwan warmly conducted Songkran merit-making, with senior military figures including Big Pok, Big Dong, Big Noi, and Big Sang participating in the traditional water-pouring ceremony to ask for blessings, before he offered wishes to the public for happiness, prosperity, and safe travels during the festival.
On 9 April 2026 at 08:30 AM GMT+7, at the Five-Province Forest Corridor Foundation, General Prawit Wongsuwan, Advisor to the Palang Pracharath Party, held a merit-making ceremony for the Thai New Year Songkran festival. He invited nine monks from Wat Phra Si Mahathat Bang Khen to perform the ritual for auspiciousness.
The atmosphere included attendance by classmates from the 6th Military Preparatory Class, such as General Boonsang Niampradit, former Supreme Commander and current member of the Senate, and General Nopadon Intapanya.
Also present were former close subordinates including General Anupong Paochinda, former Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army; General Wich Thephasadin Na Ayutthaya; General Theppong Thipyajan, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; General Sunai Praphuchaney, former Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army; and General Sanitchanok Sangchun, former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.
Political figures also attended, including Mr. Paiboon Nititawan, Mr. Ruangkrai Likitwattana, Mr. Wan Yoobamrung, General Udomdej Sitabutr, former Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army; General Kanit Sapitak, former Commander of the First Army Region; Mom Luang Korakasiwat Kasemsri; and Mr. Kras Trakulkrpong, MP for Nong Khai from Palang Pracharath Party, who all participated in the water-pouring ritual, exchanging blessings with the seniors.
General Prawit extended his wishes for Thai people to enjoy happiness and continued prosperity during Songkran. He also shared his health secret: eating only one meal per day, specifically lunch.
He further wished safety for those traveling during the Songkran holiday, whether for tourism or returning home. He reaffirmed his intention to continue taking people to taste delicious food, noting that some restaurants previously experienced poor sales, but after visits and social media exposure, they attracted more customers eager to try their dishes.
