“Juree” Criticizes Government as Pro-Business, Warns Not to Be Too Reckless or End Like “Choo Chok”

Juree Numkaew declared, "We can’t take this anymore," accusing the government of favoring business interests. She warned, "Don’t be too reckless," or it could end like "Choo Chok." A Bhumjaithai MP protested, saying this phrase implied disrespect toward the parliament.

At 10:50 a.m. on 10 Apr 2026 GMT+7, at the parliament, Juree Numkaew, Democrat MP for Songkhla, spoke in debate. She said she listened to the prime minister’s policy speech, noting a phrase “for the benefit of the people” made her shiver. She tried to discern if the prime minister’s heart truly held the people or was mixed with business interests, as his statements contradicted the reality people face. She urged the prime minister, saying he managed everything but dared not confront big businesses, instead targeting ordinary citizens, leaving them unsure when they might prosper. In the southern region, she said, "We can’t take it anymore." Regarding the disappearance of fuel at gas stations before, once prices rose by 6 baht per liter, all stations had fuel. Now, with prices near 50 baht per liter, fuel seems magically available. She claimed the prime minister’s heart is with business but never understands the people. She acknowledged the prime minister was fortunate to be born wealthy but urged him to see those struggling daily with low incomes and high expenses, suffering hardship and poverty. The only affordable item for many was methamphetamine tablets at 10 baht each, more accessible than paracetamol. She questioned the sincerity of the government’s drug crackdown policy because drugs are widespread everywhere. If serious, there would be no news of youths under drug influence taking students hostage, forcing a school director to sacrifice his life to save them. The nation praised the director’s bravery, but his family desires only his life back.

"I want to urge the prime minister and the cabinet currently in office: whatever you do from now on, please don’t be too reckless. I hope this government will complete its full term. I don’t want to see it end like Choo Chok did," Juree said.

Following this, Sanong Thepaksonnarong, Bhumjaithai MP for Buriram, protested, asking Juree to withdraw her sarcastic remark, “Don’t be reckless or you’ll end like Choo Chok,” calling it inappropriate. Meanwhile, Yosawat Maipaisansin, Bhumjaithai MP for Kanchanaburi, also protested, saying the comment showed disrespect to the parliament. Sopon Winitchai said the word “reckless” was somewhat acceptable but urged the government to provide clarification.
