Prime Minister Supports Microinsurance: Pay 10 Baht for 100,000 Baht Coverage During Songkran

Prime Minister Anutin supports microinsurance with a 10-baht premium providing coverage of 100,000 baht, strengthening public safety during Songkran.


On 10 April 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that earlier this morning, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the opening of the Center for Road Accident Prevention and Reduction during the 2026 Songkran Festival. During the event, the Prime Minister promoted safe Songkran celebrations, encouraging the public to plan their travel in advance, particularly emphasizing preparedness and risk management during the festival. He praised microinsurance for providing coverage that enhances security and helps increase Thai people's access to health and accident insurance.

For Songkran 2026, the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), together with relevant sectors, has developed two types of small-scale insurance coverage options.

1. “Joyful Songkran Insurance” This provides comprehensive coverage for life and medical expenses resulting from accidents.

- The Joyful Songkran Insurance (microinsurance) starts at a premium of 10 baht with coverage up to 100,000 baht, and

- The Joyful Songkran Insurance (microinsurance) at 20 baht premium offers coverage up to 250,000 baht.

Coverage lasts 30 days from the insurance start date, valid from 31 March 2026 to 30 June 2026. Eligibility is limited to Thai nationals aged between 15 and 70 years at the time of insurance purchase.

2. “Home Security Travel Insurance” With a premium of only 10 baht, it provides coverage up to 30,000 baht for a 30-day period.

The public can purchase these policies through insurance companies and participating channels such as Counter Service or partner businesses, increasing convenience and expanding access to insurance for the population.
