Bhumjaithai MPs Urge Swift Resolution of Shooting Case Involving MP Kamolsak, Stress Opposition to Violence Despite Party Differences

Bhumjaithai MPs representing the three southern border provinces expressed regret over the assassination attempt on MP Kamolsak. They stated that although they belong to different parties, they do not support any violence in the southern border region and support a prompt, transparent, and straightforward investigation to resolve the case.



On Friday, 10 April 2026, at 14:00 hours at the parliament building, Mr. Zakariya Sai and Mr. Burhan Sameh, Bhumjaithai MPs, jointly held a press conference regarding the assassination attempt on Mr. Kamolsak Liwamo, MP for Narathiwat province from the Prachachart Party.


Mr. Zakariya Sai stated that, as a Bhumjaithai MP from the three southern border provinces, he deeply regrets the incident involving Mr. Kamolsak Liwamo, MP for Narathiwat from the Prachachart Party. He and all MPs at the press conference had visited Mr. Kamolsak to offer support upon hearing the news. They are very concerned since they also represent the same three provinces. Although from different parties, they regularly meet, whether during religious activities inside or outside parliament. Regardless of party affiliation, they have always participated in religious ceremonies together. Upon learning of the incident, they visited Mr. Kamolsak to assess the situation and offer encouragement. Several ministers, including Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Transport, called to inquire about the incident and send their support to Mr. Kamolsak. Furthermore, when meeting Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, he expressed concern over the incident and pledged to perform his duties diligently, including personally joining field visits. Notably, in the two to three weeks following the shooting, significant progress has been made in apprehending suspects. The government's serious and sincere efforts are evident. They hope this will be the last such incident, as the people elected Mr. Kamolsak sincerely. They do not support any violence in the three southern border provinces and call for dialogue.


Mr. Burhan Sameh added that, as MPs from the southern border provinces, they are all deeply concerned for their colleague Mr. Kamolsak Liwamo and the local people regarding this violent incident. He questioned whether such brutal use of power can truly lead to peace. They believe peace must be based on law, justice, and public trust. Importantly, there must be mutual understanding. Perpetrators may take various forms, but such evil actions should not be generalized to any organization, as they are individual acts of brutality. He supports a prompt, transparent, and straightforward investigation to build confidence in the safety of people's representatives and the public. They call for opening communication channels to reduce social conflict. Additionally, they have learned that the Prime Minister will soon visit Mr. Kamolsak's family. He concluded by emphasizing that the country can only progress if no one is above the law. He stands with justice and will not allow violence to destroy their community.
