PM Assures No Need to Worry About Fuel, Encourages Public to Fully Enjoy Songkran Ministers to Continue Working

Prime Minister Anutin told the public to relax and enjoy time with their families during Songkran without worrying about fuel. He revealed that ministers are working continuously and assured there is no cause for concern. He plans to visit transport stations to oversee citizens returning to their hometowns.

At 13:45 on 11 April 2026 at the Government House, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in an interview that this afternoon he would visit transport stations where people are traveling back to their hometowns during the Songkran festival. During the long holiday, he will also tour various areas to check on orderliness. He urged people to rest and enjoy time with their families happily without worrying about fuel, assuring that fuel services will be available but asking for mindful usage. Regarding festivities, he encouraged everyone to fully enjoy water splashing and playing according to tradition but without causing trouble to others, advising everyone to stay calm. Importantly, he emphasized that those who drink alcohol must not drive any vehicles, whether motorcycles or cars. If this is strictly observed, safety will be ensured, and Songkran will be a joyful time for all.

When asked about instructions given to ministers during the holidays, Anutin said each minister has areas to oversee and facilitate the public, noting most ministers are also MPs, so there is no concern. Asked if the Prime Minister has any worries during this period, Anutin said they must monitor the situation in the Middle East and try to manage it since only Thailand has holidays during Songkran while other countries do not. Thailand must procure crude oil or necessary imports to keep everything running smoothly. For example, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Surya Jungrungreangkit will use the Songkran holiday to travel abroad to negotiate fertilizer and fuel matters. He confirmed ministers remain active, continuously seeking alternatives for the country and its people. He also encouraged reporters to enjoy their trips and fully rest before returning to work.
