Cabinet Unveils Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Plan from Policy Direction to Enforcement

Lalida revealed that the Cabinet approved the 2027 budget plan, clarifying the timeline from policy direction to enforcement, and reorganized supervision over nine integrated plans to elevate the efficiency of the entire budget system.

On 11 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Cabinet approved the approach for preparing the 2027 fiscal year expenditure budget, along with revising the budget calendar so that the Budget Act can be announced effective by 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7, which will support the continuous and efficient economic momentum of the country.

The preparation of the 2027 budget focuses on addressing public issues while maintaining fiscal discipline, responding to economic volatility, and applying a zero-based budgeting concept by reviewing the necessity of all projects. It also opens up alternative funding sources such as public-private partnerships (PPP) to reduce the country’s budget burden.

The Cabinet has set a clear timeline for the budget preparation as follows:

• 20 Apr 2026 GMT+7: The Prime Minister delivers the budget policy.
• 1 May 2026 GMT+7: Budget-receiving agencies prepare budget requests.
• 2 Jun 2026 GMT+7: The Cabinet reviews budget details and opens for public comments.
• 16 Jun 2026 GMT+7: The Cabinet acknowledges the public feedback results and approves the draft Budget Act.
• 23 Jun 2026 GMT+7: The draft Budget Act is submitted to the House of Representatives.
• July to September 2026 GMT+7: The House of Representatives considers the draft following parliamentary procedures.
• Late September 2026 GMT+7: The draft is presented for royal assent and promulgation.
• 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7: The budget comes into effect.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved revisions to the delegation of supervisory authority over nine integrated plans for fiscal year 2026 to enhance unified budget management efficiency, assigning responsibilities as follows:

2. Integrated plan for the Eastern Economic Corridor development.

Mr. Songsak Thongsri supervises two plans:

1. Integrated plan for drug prevention, suppression, and resolution.

Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas supervises one plan:

The integrated digital government plan.

Ms. Supajee Sutamphan supervises two plans:

1. Integrated plan to generate income from tourism.

2. Integrated plan for developing future industries and services.

Mr. Pakorn Nilprapan supervises one plan:

Integrated plan against corruption and misconduct.

Mr. Yossanan Wongsawat supervises one plan:

Integrated plan to prepare for an aging society.
