‘Warawut’ Sets Goal to Add 40 More Energy-Efficient Standard Products to Help Public Overcome Energy Crisis

The Minister of Industry revealed plans to overcome the energy and raw material crises by advancing support for entrepreneurs to reduce costs and increasing energy-efficient product standards by 40 items to help the public.

On 12 April 2026, Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, stated that the Ministry of Industry is preparing to implement proactive measures to assist entrepreneurs in lowering production costs and securing raw materials for Thailand's industrial sector. This includes reforming energy use in production to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The government will seriously promote biofuel usage, aiming to increase the proportion of palm oil blended into diesel and to upgrade the use of ethanol derived from sugarcane residue and tops. Additionally, it supports electricity generation from biomass to reduce long-term energy costs for industry.

The Minister of Industry said that Thailand has food security, and with effective logistics management, this will further strengthen farmers. He also highlighted opportunities to create new businesses amid the current crisis, especially in energy-saving products and factory efficiency improvements. The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) aims to add at least 40 more energy-efficient product standards to help reduce household expenses.

“This crisis will be a significant opportunity to create new businesses. The Ministry of Industry is ready to stand as a partner alongside entrepreneurs and the public to help us all overcome this crisis strongly,” Mr. Warawut said.
